in Pallet Town, a big party is being held in Ash's honor at Prof. Oak's
place. Even the Pokemon are released to have a good time. But Team Rocket
is there too, spiking the food Ash orders with extra spicy sauce. Ash and
his Pokemon chow down, only to have their mouths burning. While Ash is
trying to cool down, Team Rocket steals Pikachu, floats away in their balloon
and begins to toss blaster balls down onto the crowd. Ash sends out Pidgeotto,
but a blaster ball hits him and he falls to the ground. Ash quickly catches
him, then sends out Charizard. Charizard is only interested in all the
food, until a blaster ball blasts a buffet table Charizard was about to
chow down at. The furious fire type quickly flies up and sends Team Rocket
blasting off again. After the party, Oak heals Pigeotto and tells Ash that
he wants him to go to the Valencia Island in the Orange Archipelago to
pick up a special Pokeball for him. Ash, Misty and Brock set out towards
the coast, but as they pass through the forest, they find themselves being
attacked by Spearow and Fearow! The Fearow seems especially mad at Ash,
and Ash wonders why. Then he remembers when he hit a Spearow with a rock
(Back in Episode #101), and figures it had evolved! The Fearow picks Ash
up and carries it high in the sky. Pikachu uses a Thunderbolt and Fearow
drops Ash and Pikachu into a tree, where they find Team Rocket, along with
a flock of Pidgey and Pidgeotto! Ash asks what they are doing there, and
Jessie explains that the Spearow and Fearow are terrorizing the Pidgey
and Pidgeotto, and they are too afraid to leave. Ash gets his Pidgeotto
to encourage the Pidgey and Pidgeotto to fight back, and lead them against
the mean Fearow. After a quick fight, Fearow manages to knock Pidgeotto
down. Ash gets worried, but Pidgeotto begins to glow, and evolves into
Pidgeot! Pidgeot puts Ash on his back and they go flying off after Fearow.
All the bird Pokemon fight back against Fearow, but it's only after Pikachu
gives it a Thunder attack it is finally scared off. Ash decides to leave
Pidgeot behind to watch over the flock, just in case Fearow ever come back.
As Pidgeot waves goodbye, Ash continues his journey to the Orange Islands.
