Ash
is one of four trainers starting out from Pallet Town to fulfill their
dreams of becoming great Pokémon Masters. Ash is determined, but
his skills are lacking and he tends to get a big head easily. He tends
to get caught up in the moment and doesn't think straight when going into
battle, leaving him depending mostly on luck to win battles. His favorite
Pokémon is his first, Pikachu and usually calls on him, even when
Pikachu has a disadvantage.
He travels with Brock and Misty, two Gym Leaders. Though they fight often, (especially Ash and Misty), they are a close knit group and take care of each other. Ash isn't very smart, but he has a big heart and will come through for his friends whenever there's trouble. In the Anime, there are more badges than what you can win in the video game; Gary won ten badges in the Indigo League. Ash managed to get the minimum of eight Badges to enter the League Championships, but he lost in the fifth round to his new rival and friend Richie. Ash competed in the Orange League, in which Gym Battles are decided with tests of skills instead of battles, and is now in the Johto League, meeting new friends and discovering new Pokémon!
